Mrs. Edaine Bailey Wimpey, age 92 of Athens, GA, formerly of Ellijay, GA passed on Tuesday, December 30, 2014, in Athens, Georgia.Mrs. Wimpey was born April 22, 1922 in Ellijay, Georgia to her late parents, William Floyd Bailey and Florence Patten Bailey. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Ellijay and a member of the Bridge Club. Edaine worked as a book keeper for the North GA Oil Company and is preceded in death by her husband, Thelbert Wimpey.
She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Ted A. Wimpey and Jane Knodell of Burlinton, VT, Terry L. and Brenda Wimpey of Athens, GA; Grandson Nathaniel Hunter Lee Wimpey; Sister, Jean Bailey Crawford of Marietta, GA; Numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM on Saturday, January 3rd, 2015 from the Logan Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. James Holt officiating. Music and vocals will be by Matthew Newton. Graveside interment will follow in the Ellijay City Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jim Bailey, Kenneth Bailey, Robert Hancock, Andy Milton, Mike West, and Bill Bailey. Mrs. Wimpey’s nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews will serve as honorary pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM on Saturday, January 3, 2015, at Logan Funeral Home.
