Paris Starts Year With Aggressive Agenda

ELLIJAY, Ga – Newly elected chair Charlie Paris is starting off his first board of commissioners meeting with a full agenda, including addressing a $171,415 fine from the department of revenue.
Paris’ first agenda for the 2015 year gets off to a quick start by addressing business that he has inherited after being sworn in at the end of the 2014 year as the new chairman of the board of commissioners.
On December 16th, 2014 the Gilmer County tax assessor’s office received a letter informing them that they were to pay a fine in an amount exceeding $170,000.
The letter also indicated that the board had 60 days to appeal the fine in hopes of reducing or possibly even lifting the fine all together.
Not all of the agenda items are so negative, though. Paris’ plans to hit the ground running on certain things such as discussing the hiring of an economic development to work with Ellijay and East Ellijay, something that has been sought after for years.
With all of the items Paris has listed on the agenda one thing is for sure: Paris plans to be a man of action who is going to move things forward for what he believes to be the betterment of Gilmer County.
