Facing the Future
Opinion January 23, 2015
Opinion by George McClellan:Forget Obama’s State of the Union speech. It was nothing more than a stage show of nonsense piled upon nonsense, a signal triumph of electronic technology in the genre of ‘cut and past’, regurgitated ideas drawn from old speeches heard long, long ago. Obama is a phony!
The GOP’s response by newly enfranchised Iowa Senator Joni Ernst, while nice, wasn’t forceful, offered little in the way of relief and revealed no GOP plan to seize Congress’s role back from Obama and, was as forgettable as Obama’s SOTU. I predict however that Sen. Joni Ernst is no fool and the next time she speaks, she’ll be brandishing her nut cutters and not spewing out the moderate BS that Boehner and McConnell obviously prepared for her.
Rand Paul on the other hand, went straight to the juggler and offered remedies in keeping with the Constitution, i.e: Audit the Pentagon (as well as the Fed), cut corporate welfare, eliminate comprehensive (all lumped together) spending bills, enact a “Read the Bill Act” delaying a vote one day for every twenty pages the bill is long so Congressmen can read them before being asked to voted on them. How bad is that?
Rand Paul also recognizes what I have written about often, refreshing the entrenched politico’s, the “Elites” or, in Sen. Paul’s words the “Privileged Class” by a more rapid turn over of leaders just to keep ideas there fresh. Term limits is an arguable point with elections as a term limit device, but the GOP won’t survive if it insists on retaining it’s “Moderate” (really progressive lite) cadre of political leaders. Voter education and active involvement is also required here.
Another important change Sen. Paul offered was to insist that any bill that runs afoul of the Bill of Rights must be reversed. Well, if it was unconstitutional why was it passed in the first place one wonders? He wants the tax system simplified, exchanged with a fair tax of some sort, a consumer tax being the most logical path, and stricter control of the specially favored that manage to avoid the Justice they so rightly deserve. (think IRS, DoJ leaders, for example.)
As far as Obama is concerned, with two years remaining of his phony but very still dangerous attempt at dictatorship, the real message our alleged president delivered occurred the next day in Boise, Idaho. That’s the frightening speech where the true Obama again reveals himself, going into a ‘full court press’ by doubling down on socialism for everybody. Free education, free child care, free this and free that and the wildly cheering students in the audience gobbled it up, a sad commentary on the quality of education offered to America’s growing ranks of low information children being produced by our colleges and universities.
In his SOTU speech, The phony Obama was like a pandering scold. He pandered to the nation about his accomplishments in restoring America’s economic malaise and his brilliant foreign policy achievements, while scolding the Congress to hold its hand on more Iran sanctions lest it should derail his talks with the Mullah’s. Who believes that? Obama’s negotiating skills have thus far, been disastrous for America. The best news was Speaker Boehner inviting Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu to address the Congress without asking permission from the amateur in the White House. They went crazy! Is this the beginning of the process of rendering Obama unnecessary? Obama’s presidency has been a disaster for America and it must be halted.
Americans are not socialists and we really don’t need government controlling our daily lives through wealth distribution. If we are left alone we will prosper and so will America!
Remember, freedom is the goal, the Constitution is the way. Now, Go get ‘em! (22 Jan 2014
