Mr. Ernest “J.R.” Sheriff, Jr., age 63 of Ellijay, Georgia passed on Thursday, January 22, 2015, at the Gordon Hospital in Calhoun, Georgia. He was born February 5, 1951 in Calhoun, GA. He was the son of the late Ernest P.Sheriff, Sr. He was employed by Mohawk Home in Sugar Valley, GA. Ernest enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing and gardening. He served his country honorably in the U.S. Army and National Guard.

Mr. Sheriff is survived by his wife of 27 years, Joyce Brock Sheriff of Ellijay, GA, son; David Sheriff of Calhoun, GA, daughter; Heather Blaylock of of Rome, GA, step-son; Eric Dyer of Knoxville, TN, grandchildren; Caleb and Mckayla Sheriff and Jeremiah Johnson, brother; Gary Sheriff of Plainville, GA, sisters; Annette Morgan of Calhoun, GA and Lynn Doffing of Texas, special niece; Lisa McCoy.

A Memorial service will be at 3:00 PM on Saturday January 24th, 2015 at the Logan Funeral Home Chapel with Min. Butch Jones officiating. In Lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Diabetes Association at 17 Executive Park Suite 115 Atlanta, GA 30329 or to the American Heart Association at P.O. Box 840692 Dallas, TX 75284 in memory of Mr. Sheriff.
