Mr. Eirl Forest “Tater” Townsend: Obituary

Mr. Eirl Forest “Tater” Townsend, age 69 of Ellijay, Georgia passed on Friday, February 6, 2015. Born January 20th, 1946 in Woodstock, Georgia, he was the son of the late Arthur Townsend and the late Millie Dotson Townsend. Mr. Townsend was a honorably discharged disabled Vietnam veteran who served in the U.S. Army. He is preceded in death by his brothers, Delmer, Elmer, Raymond, Junior, George, A.M. and Dearl Townsend, sisters, Zelma Coker and Virginia Davis.

He is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, William and Mary Townsend of Ellijay, GA, sister, Viola Martin of Ellijay, GA. sisters-in-law, Bernice Townsend of Ellijay, GA, Alice Townsend of Calhoun, GA and Rosemary Townsend of Rock Hill, SC

A Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday February 8th, 2015 at the Logan Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Eddie Kerr and Rev. Billy Dotson officiating. Music and singing will be by Harold Sanford. Military Rites will be performed in the Logan Funeral Home Pavilion by the North Georgia Honor Guard. Interment will follow in the Pleasant Gap Baptist Church Cemetery with Mark Martin, David Martin, Brandon Kerr, Jamie Kerr, Johnny Martin and Andrew Bolinger serving as pallbearers,

The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 9:00 PM on Saturday, February 7, 2015, at Logan Funeral Home.
