Mrs. Gladys Josephine Wheeler Banks, age 79 of Ellijay, Georgia passed on Monday, February 9, 2015, from the Gilmer Nursing Home. She was born Sunday, February 10, 1935 in Ellijay, Georgia to her late parents, Ernest McKinley Wheeler and Bessie Pearl Waters Wheeler. Gladys was an avid fan of Elvis Presley’s’ gospel music. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She is preceded in death by her husband, JR Banks, and sister Helen Wheeler Abernathy.

Survivors include daughter and son-in-law Cathy & Larry Rice of Ellijay, GA, sons and daughter-in-law David and Loreen Banks of Ellijay, GA., Jerry Banks of Robinsville, NC., Ronnie Chris Banks of Chatsworth, GA; grandchildren Kim Rice, David Banks, Jr., Tommy Banks, Cody Banks, Casey Banks, Edward Elkins, Heather Banks and several great grandchildren; brother, Junior Wheeler of Ellijay, GA.

Funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM on Tuesday, February 10th, 2015 at Logan Funeral Home with Rev. Emuel Sanford and Rev. Steve Fields officiating, with Irene Wofford performing music and song. Interment will follow in the New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery. Her grandsons, Kim Rice, David Banks, Jr., Tommy Banks, Cody Banks, Casey Banks, and Edward Elkins will serve as pallbearers.

Family will receive friends beginning at 12:00 noon, until the time of the funeral on Tuesday, February 10th, 2015.
