Cameron Perry started a new chapter in his wrestling career last fall as a freshman at UVA. He chose to take this as his redshirt year, so he has been limited to Open tournaments. At his first tournament as a college wrestler, he finished in fifth place at the Hokie Open at Virginia Tech. He struggled through several minor injuries after that, and did not place at any other tournaments. However, several weeks ago, due to his status as a Junior Greco Roman All-American, he received an invitation to travel with the Olympic Training Center staff to compete at the Austrian Junior Greco Open in Gotzis, Austria on February 28.

He will join fellow Junior All-American wrestlers on Team USA to compete at one of the toughest Greco tournaments in Europe. In fact, it is not uncommon for the winner of this tournament to go on to win a Junior World title.
