Mr. Arthur Thomas “Smiley” Hollis: Obituary

Mr. Arthur Thomas “Smiley” Hollis, age 78 of the Tails Creek Community, Ellijay, Georgia passed on Thursday morning, March 12, 2015, at the North Georgia Medical Center.Smiley was born on November 17th, 1936 in Chatsworth, GA, to his late parents Benjamin Fare Hollis and Effie May McCollum Hollis. He worked for Georgia Marble in Whitestone, GA as a forklift driver until his retirement. Mr. Hollis is preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Virginia Ruth Parsons Hollis.

He is survived his daughter and ‘least boy’, Sandra Hollis Dillard and Jack Dotson of Ellijay, GA; Grandchildren and spouses, Katie Dillard and Kyle Dotson of Dalton, GA, Patricia and Jamie Ayers of Ellijay, GA, Trixie and Steve Dancy of Supply, NC, and Holly and Scott Proctor of Banner Elk, NC; Eight great grandchildren, Sister, Connie Deputy of Granite Falls, NC; Brother, Steve Hollis of Granite Falls, NC; Several nieces and nephews; Special friends, Christina Corbin and Heather Blocker, both of Ellijay, GA also survive.

A memorial service will be held at 2pm on Saturday, March 21st, 2015 from the Logan Funeral Home Pavilion with Min. David Mullins officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 in memory of Arthur Hollis.
