Daily Prayer: April 01

Psalm 19:12-13 “Who can discern his errors? Forgive my hidden faults. Keep Your servant from willful sins; may they not rule over me. Then I will be blameless, innocent of great transgression.”

O God of grace and glory, we are often blind to our own faults but can readily see the shortcomings of others. When we are honest with ourselves we do admit that we have hidden faults that we do not want You or anyone else to see in us. But You know us better than we know ourselves. Forgive us for those things that we try to hide.

We do not want to be ruled by willful sins. Sometimes their power is so great that we become enslaved to them. We know that they are wrong and we keep doing them. These addictions can only be broken by Your power in us. When we are forgiven – then we are free – and innocent of great transgression. Thanks be to the Christ of the Cross.

Amen.
