Daily Prayer: 04/20

The Third Saying from the Cross: “Woman, behold thy Son.” John 19:26.Our Father in Heaven, the dimensions of your love are beyond our understanding. We thank you for your love in Christ to sinful men with a length that reaches from Heaven to the Cross, a breadth that encircles the world, a depth that goes to the lowest hell to lift up a sinner, and height that reaches back to Heaven where we shall spend eternity with you. We thank you for the example of Jesus in His very last act before dying the death of sin for us, that He made provisions for His mother by entrusting her into the keeping of John. This tenderness of love even while He was in such pain of body and soul demonstrates His human love as Son of man.

As we think of death and the separation it brings from loved ones, we thank you that they can be committed into your keeping. May in these Holy days we think of the Cross and realize that it is the way to life for us as sin-laden humanity through our personal trust in Jesus as our Lord and Saviour.
