Mr. J. S. DeFoor Jr. : Obituary

Mr. J. S. DeFoor Jr. age 91 of Fayetteville, Georgia, formerly of Ellijay, GA passed on Tuesday, May 12, 2015, at his residence.Mr. DeFoor was born on June 5, 1923 in Ellijay, Georgia to his late parents Rev. John Sylvester DeFoor, Sr. and Millie Dora Mae Woodard DeFoor. J.S. was a member of Crossroads Baptist Church and served honorably in the US Navy. He was employed as a carpenter at the Beacon Company in Ellijay for 39 years, then worked as a truck driver for another 24 years, until he was 80 years old and worked for Walmart in Riverdale for 9 years.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Sarah Ann Sanford DeFoor of the home in Fayetteville, GA; Daughter and son-in-law, Hilda D. and Johnny Goins of Fayetteville, GA; Granddaughter and in-law, Jillian and Aaron Rafter of Fayetteville, GA; Grandson, Jim Goins of Fayetteville, GA; Great granddaughters, Marlee and Livia Rafter; Special nieces Pam Smith, Virginia Crowley and Lisa Southerland, and a host of nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, May 16th, 2015 from the Crossroads Baptist Church in Ellijay, Georgia with the Rev. Billy Dotson and Rev. Jamie Dotson officiating. Music and vocals will be by Rev. Jamie Dotson, Harold Sanford, and the Crossroads Baptist Church Choir, pianist Sherry Davis. Graveside interment will be in the Crossroads Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM on Friday, May 15, 2015, at Logan Funeral Home.
