Mr. William “Phil” Carney age 66 of Ellijay, GA passed Tuesday June 16, 2015. Mr. Carney was born August 29, 1948 in Rome, GA, son of the late Willie J. and Elizabeth Gross Carney. He was worked for the US Department of Agriculture as a USDA Inspector, also had his Bachelor’s Degree attending Shorter College, Berry State College and Dalton State College. Mr. Carney was a member of the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church and a US Army Veteran. He is preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Steve Carney; sister, Elaine Carney.

Survivors Include: wife, Opal Sanford Carney, of the home; son, Shannon Teague, of Ellijay, GA; daughters and sons in-law, Shea and Todd Byers, of Jasper, GA, Leslie and Joey Henson, of Rome, GA, Regina and Johnny Goble, of Ellijay, GA, Treina and Dudley Bevins, of Ellijay, GA; brother and sister in-law, Dennis and Nancy Carney, of Rome, GA; grandchildren, Dudgrick Bevins, Chasiti Goble, Collin Teague, Ivie Teague, Ashley Henson, Kaylea Henson, Jaclyn Henson, Nicolas Fowler; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral Service will be held Friday June 19th at 2pm from the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Dan Rossier officiating. Interment will follow in the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church cemetery with graveside rites by the North Georgia Honor Guard.

The family will receive friends Thursday June 18th from 4pm until 9pm at the funeral home.
