East Ellijay Council Prepares for New Fiscal Year

A late-in-the-month meeting saw East Ellijay’s City Council finalizing reports as it prepares to begin its next Fiscal Year. The Council has reported that May only saw a revenue of around $71,000 and expenditures of $92,000. Though this month was low, they also reported that after 11 months the City currently holds a positive in its finances with an excess of revenues over expenditures to the tune of a $120,000 difference.

After approving the financial reports, the Council adopted the All Funds Budget for the 2015-2016 to total around $1.5 million. The Board also approved Colditz Trucking, Inc. for SPLOST paving projects.

The City Council also took a moment to affirm the JDA’s (Joint Development Authority) appointment of Penelope Marshall as their seventh member. While there was no real action taken by this vote, it does show the Council’s continued support and confidence in the JDA and its members which it has selected to the Board of Directors in the JDA.
