Just before 7:00am on June 28th, Gilmer Sheriff’s deputies responded to a residence in the Pleasant Valley Rd. area of Gilmer County.A local resident, a 71-year-old female, had dialed 911 and stated she’d been robbed.
The suspect had awakened the victim from sleep with a gun pointed at her, then proceeded to rob her and left the victim’s residence taking approximately $700 and several firearms.
Detectives were called to investigate this case further and process the crime scene. Soon after, the victim was able to help identify the suspect as Ryan Bradburn.
Gilmer deputies partnered with City Officers, several units from Georgia State Patrol and Georgia Dept of Natural Resources to begin looking for Bradburn at known locations. The search did not last long, however, after the assistance of a relative helped convince Bradburn to turn himself in.
At approximately 11:50 am, Bradburn surrendered to Deputies and others in a wooded area off of Evans Rd. in the Clear Creek area of Gilmer County. The arrest followed without incident.
In a public release, Sheriff Stacy Nicholson stated,
“These serious crimes are rare in our community but when they do occur, we are dedicated to bringing them to a swift and safe resolution. I’m proud of the meticulous but fast work of my Deputies and the cooperation of the other agencies involved.”
