Daily Prayer: 07/16/2014

Proverbs 14:12-15 “There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death. Even in laughter the heart may ache, and the end of joy may be grief. The backslider in heart will be filled with the fruit of his ways, and a good man will be filled with the fruit of his ways. The simple believes everything, but the prudent give thought to his steps.”

Our Father, in most of life there are two ways to look at any situation and only one of them will be right in your eyes. Sometimes there are many interpretations of the same event. There is always the negative and the positive. We want to approach life situations with the wisdom you give us.

We may in our own wisdom think that our way is right but you can see that it leads to death in the end. Only your perspective leads to life abundant and eternal.

Inside we may be filled with heartache, but on the outside we can laugh and be seen to be lighthearted. We are people capable of stark contrasts. Beside us one may be backsliding and another may be on the straight and narrow way.

Some people will believe anything, but the thoughtful are careful to probe until the truth is revealed.

Father, these contrasts remind us that life can so easily go wrong. Help us to apply the wisdom you give us to our lives this day. In Jesus we live and move.
