Mrs. Dorothy Pettit Cantrell: Obituary

Mrs. Dorothy Pettit Cantrell, age 90 of the Big Creek community Ellijay, died on Monday, August 31, 2015, at the Gilmer Nursing Home. Born October 18, 1924 in Ellijay, Georgia to her late parents John and Ina Reece Pettit. Mrs. Cantrell was a member of the Macedonia Baptist Church and retired as a shipping clerk with Hampton Mills. She is preceded in death by her husband Manley Cantrell.

Mrs. Cantrell is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Lucille and Lloyd Clayton of Buford, GA, son and daughter in law, Winston and Elaine Cantrell of Ellijay, GA, grandchildren Carl and Robin Clayton, Curtis and Jennifer Clayton and Chris and Stacey Clayton, great grandchildren, Austin, Charles and Matthew Clayton, sisters and brother-in-law, Johnny Faye and Eugene Anderson of Ellijay, GA and Ernestine Pettit Ralston of Ellijay, GA.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM on Thursday, September 3rd, 2015 from the Logan Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Michael Cantrell and Rev. Larry Waddell officiating. Music and singing will be by the Macedonia Baptist Church Choir. Graveside Interment will follow in the Scrougetown Church Cemetery with Dennis Ralston, David Ralston, George Ralston, Wendall Ralston, Wallace Anderson, Ermel Lambert, Steve Ralston and Hubert Parker serving as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM on Wednesday, September 2, 2015, at the Logan Funeral Home. Flowers are being accepted or donations may be made to the Scrougetown Church Cemetery Fund in care of Clark Cantrell at 735 Hagin Circle Ellijay, GA 30536 in memory of Mrs. Cantrell.
