As the meeting was getting ready to start on Monday, September 21, the City Council of Ellijay was introduced to Chuck Scragg, the newly added Director for the JDA (Joint Development Authority).
The Council proceeded through its Public Hearing and Regular Meeting to approve a Resolution for the FY16 Budget Adoption and the millage rate of 3.47, a decrease from last year.
Also in the meeting, the council approved two Zoning Requests, the first a Rezoning Request for 283 North Main Street next to Mr. P’s from R1 Residential to ORC (Office Restricted Commercial), and the second a Variance Request for 340 River St due to a setback where the previous request had issue with its plan. Both were approved with no comments or issue from citizens.
While the Council is still seeking another nomination for the Historic Preservation Commission Board, they did appoint new members to the Housing Authority: Charlene Douglas for the term of 8-13-15 through 8-12-16, Glenda Warlick for the term of 8-12-15 through 8-11-20, and James Hill for the term of 8-12-15 through 8-11-20.
