Politically, The Sands Are Still Shifting

I have long since fallen out of love with the RNC. No longer do I send them my money so they can use it to destroy highly qualified conservative candidates. Last night debate performance, however, revealed several interesting facets of debating that cannot go unremarked.

The GOP base, its hardliners, moderates, social and economic conservatives alike, seem to be dumping on the GOP’s party leader Reince Priebus, for selecting CNBC for last nights Republican debate in Boulder, Colorado. It may have been an error in judgement but it turned out very well for our side and so I have decided to cut Priebus some slack on the issue.

First, both Trump and Carson told CNBC they wouldn’t be there if the debate exceeded two hours. It didn’t! CNBC caved. Score one for the GOP. Next, CNBC selected its business channel, probably as less contentious, as the vehicle for this broadcast then assigned unknown super liberal moderators who most Americans have never heard of to conduct their interrogations. Hopefully we’ll never hear of them again.

Falling into the standard Liberal format of posing hopefully disabling questions of immediate destruction of Republican candidates, they launched, as their first question, as stupid a one as could have been considered. To each candidate: what do you consider your biggest weakness? The GOP contenders, to a man (and woman) at first stood there as in shock and awe wondering if they were facing a “gotcha” question. For CNBC it went down hill from there.

What CNBC, and Reince Priebus, inadvertently did was to energize eleven very intelligent, articulate and more than capable GOP contenders, to defend themselves at the same time exposing CNBC as the epitome of main stream media liberal bias. The bashing went on for two hours and the Liberal moderators lost control of their pre-planned discourse several times.

On top of that, as Chris Christi so eloquently pointed out, they were also as rude as New Jersey folk. (?) The dynamics of the intercourse were totally to the candidates advantage. CNBC lost what ever edge they though they might have achieved by having a rotating group of questioners including one weird fellow who sounded like he might have been a prodigy of Torquemada, his boney finger and raspy voice pointing accusations of, gasp, conservatism. Oh the horror!

Last night’s debate has set the tone for all future debates. Moderators beware, you are not going to have free reign anymore and make false claims that go unchallenged. I loved it when Trump was “I don’t know where you read that, you guy’s write this stuff!”

We now have candidates with gumption. It might have been a mistake, but to Reince Priebus must go some credit. And, no! I’m still not donating to GOP Pac’s. Only to the candidate of my choice. Remember, freedom is the goal, the Constitution is the way. Now, go get ‘em! (29 Oct 2015)
