Mr. Marion C. Whitworth, age 84, of Ellijay, died Thursday November 19, 2015.
Mr. Whitworth was born August 29, 1931 in Hall County the son of the late Beusse and Jewell Crawford Whitworth. He was a retired Teacher, serving in various school systems, his last service being with the Gilmer County School. He served after his retirement, working in maintenance at the First Baptist Church, served in the US Navy and was a member of the Cornerstone Baptist Church. He was a Master Gardner, enjoyed woodworking and photography.
Survivors include: wife of 57 years, Martha “Dovie” Cason Whitworth, sons and daughter-in-law: Darryl and Julie Whitworth, Cherrylog, Andy and Shelia Whitworth, Carrollton, grandchildren, Wesley and Danielle Whitworth, Thomas and Jesse Whitworth, Cody Whitworth, Caleb, Emma and Ethan Whitworth. Sister; Joyce Mauney, Cleveland, GA Sister-in-law: Faye Whitworth, Atlanta, Brother-in-law: Jamie and Mary Ann Cason, Atlanta, sister-in-law; Pansy Rogers, Warrenton, GA.
Funeral services will be held Sunday at 3:00pm from the chapel of Bernhardt Funeral Home with Rev. Allen Tarr, Rev. Ron Nelson and Thomas Whitworth officiating. Interment will be in the Yukon cemetery with military rites by the U.S. Navy.
The family will meet with friends Saturday from 5 until 9pm at the funeral home.
