Update to Fatal Fire in Lower Cartecay

Fire Units responded to house fire call later Saturday evening in the lower Cartecay area, just off of Lick Log Road.

Units responded within minutes of the call around 7pm. The had become “was very advanced upon our arrival,” reports Fire Chief Tony Pritchett. “Fire personnel made entry to search for occupants while extinguishing the fire, and the victim was found.

Unfortunately, the victim, an elderly female resident, had succumbed to the fire becoming the one fatality reported.

After gaining control of the fatal house fire, County Fire and Sheriff’s Investigators are working with the State Fire Marshall, who was asked to assist due to the fatality involved, to understand and determine the cause of the blaze.
