In a public release on Monday, January 25. The Greater Gilme JDA issued the following statement:
At a special called meeting today (January 25, 2015), the Joint Development Authority of Gilmer County and the Cities of Ellijay and East Ellijay (JDA), passed a motion to submit a letter to oppose the Request for Determination by Piedmont Hospital to Lease the Emergency Room and close the North Georgia Medical Center (NGMNC) hospital in Ellijay, Georgia. The JDA stated that more information was needed about the details of the deal between Piedmont Mountainside Hospital and NGMC owned by Sunlink Health Systems, Inc. On December 28, 2015, Piedmont Mountainside Hospital filed a “Request for Determination” with the Georgia Department of Community Health to acquire the Certificate of Need (CON) from Sunlink Healthcare Systems inc. The Request for Determination is an administrative procedure for the transfer of the CON. This procedure does not require a hearing and it does not release of the details of the the deal’s, unless there is relevant opposition. The request by Piedmont Mountainside would leave Gilmer County without an inpatient health care facility. The Emergency Room lease was purported to be for five years. The opposition letter against Request For Determination DET-2015-205, will be formally filed with the Georgia Department of Community Health in Atlanta.

This hospital needs to be removed and a new one built.
It is filthy and very little cleaning has or is being done.
A lot of the staff are too old and to forgetful to be working with
patients.
Please let Northside take it over and have the hospital this county deserves.
