Mr. James A. “Gus” Cochran, age 93, of Ellijay, died Thursday February 4, 2016.
Mr. Cochran was born April 15, 1922 in Cobb County, the son of the late Chalmus Lawrence and Eva Mae Stanford Cochran. He retired as a Railway Postal Clerk, was a US. Army veteran serving in WWII and member of the Blue Ridge Church of Christ. Beside his parents, he is preceded in death by a son, Robin James Cochran, brother, Chalmus Cochran, JR and sister, Evelyn Cochran Neighbors.
Survivors include: wife; Polly Witt Cochran, son and daughter-in-law: David and Angele Ballew Cochran, Ellijay, brothers; Luther E. Cochran, Douglasville, Alton L. Cochran, Covington, sister; Jane Arey, Virginia, grandchildren, Holly Cochran Collier, Caleb Cochran, Joshua Cochran, great-grandchildren, Macey and Quinn Collier several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2:00pm from the chapel of Bernhardt Funeral Home with Minister Lonnie Jones, Jr, Joshua Cochran and Ken White officiating. Interment will be in the Ellijay Church of Christ Cemetery with military rites by the North Georgia Honor Guard.
The family will meet with friends Saturday from 5 until 8 pm at the funeral home
