Mr. Herbert Henry Sumner: Obituary

Mr. Herbert Henry Sumner, age 86, of Ellijay died on Tuesday March 8th, 2016. He was born August 11,1929, in Gilmer County to the late Franklin Nathaniel and Eunice Plemons Sumner. He graduated Gilmer High School class of 1948 and served in the Air Force during the Korean War. He was owner of Sumner Construction Company and a member of Mountaintown Baptist Church.

He is preceded in death by wife, Grace Davis Sumner; son in law, Tracy Newton; brother, Charles Sumner, sister in law, Juanita Sumner; brother in law, Ray Hyde. He is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Tem Miller; son and daughter-in-law, John and Marlene Sumner all of Ellijay, sisters and brother -in-law, Buren Hyde, Dorothy and Mack Logan; brother, Jim Sumner; sister-in-law, Inez Sumner, all of Ellijay, grandchildren and in-laws, Dr. Kristy and Scott Ruis of Suwannee; Matthew and Krista Newton of Talking Rock, Ashley Sumner of Ellijay, great grandchildren, Micah, Jonah & Noah Newton, Grey and Harper Ruis, Wesley & Cameron Miller, Serra Stallings, and Caregiver, Sandy Ralston. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral service will be held Saturday, March 12th, at the Logan Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Edmund Miller officiating. Music by Chase Sumner and the Mountaintown Baptist Church Choir. Military Graveside Service will follow in the Logan Funeral Home Pavilion with Military Rites performed by the North GA Honor Guard. Interment will be in the Mountaintown Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers are Ben Charles, Todd Coleman, Ron Davis, Kenneth Newton, Scott Sales, Wayne Sales, Keith Sumner, Mike Sumner, and Terry Wimpey.

Family will receive friends on Friday, March 11th, 2016 from 4pm until 9pm at the Logan Funeral Home.
