Bobcats Drop Close Match to Indians

The Gilmer High School golf team welcomed the Towns County Indians to Whitepath Golf Course Wednesday.

Following nine holes of play, the Indians squeezed out a 179-187 victory over the Bobcats.

Joshua Dobbs was the lowest scorer for Gilmer, shooting a 44. Kanyon Smith shot a 46, while Matthew Waddell had a 48 and Myles Southern finished his day with a 49.

In B-team play, Tyler Queen led the Cats by shooting a 46.

The Lady Cats played against each other for some friendly competition, since Towns County had no girls team.

“I thought the first wave of kids had a great, competitive match,” said GHS coach Sean Thom. “Josh Dobbs continues to swing it well. Queen has continued to improve from match to match. We still need to find some consistency in the middle of our lineup and we will continue to get better as the season moves forward.”
Gilmer will travel to Union for its next competition Tuesday, before heading to Kennesaw Mountain Wednesday.
