Marjorie J. Whitehurst, 95, passed away on March 17, 2016 in Ellijay Georgia.
Mrs. Whitehurst was born August 23, 1920 in Willingston ,Fl to Mary S. Mixson and Archibald James Kirkland Mixson. She was a graduate of Willingston High School and the University of Florida. In addition to being an educator, she was an avid gardener and loved to travel. She was a long-time active member of the 1st Methodist Church in Williston.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Vivian Whitehurst. She is also predeceased by two brothers, Charles W.(Marquerite) Mixson and Herman L. (Betty) Mixson, and two sisters, Frances S. (Whitfield) Morton and Doris M. Barker.
Survivors include: two sons, Herman L. Fagley (Skip) and wife Libby of Morganton, Ga. and Thomas A. Fagley of Charlotte, NC. Also surviving are three granddaughters, Jeannie (Robert) Dopson of Middleburg, Fl, Tara (Greg) Light of Roswell, GA, and Danielle Fagley, of TX, as well as 3 great grandchildren, Robert T. Dopson, and Emily and Harrison Light. Also surviving are 3 brothers, James K. (Jan) Mixson, Joseph J. (Mary), Mixson, and Miles E. (Mimi) Mixson, and many nieces and nephews. Marjorie enjoyed and loved her large extended family and always looked forward to the family reunions.
Interment will be at the Wacahoota Baptist Cemetery in Willingston FL and arrangements will be announced at a later date.
