Gilmer Tennis Downs Fannin on Senior Night

The Gilmer High School tennis team hosted 515 rival the Fannin County Rebels for its senior night match yesterday.

GHS made the end result a memorable one for its seniors, as the Bobcats fanned the Rebels 5-0 and the Lady Cats picked up a 4-1 victory.

In boys singles action, Riley Hice bested Trevor Neal 6-0, 6-0. Issac Hensley downed Blake Cobb 6-1, 6-1, while Dusty Ray defeated Paul Walker 6-0, 6-0.

The combination of Cole Edmondson and Chandler Cantrell picked up a hard-fought 6-1, 5-7, 7-5 victory over Grant Fitts and Alex Prince, while Matthew Bruner and Noah Chastain beat the duo of Ben Finley and Aaron Walden 6-0, 7-5.

Emily Key garnered the lone Fannin win of the evening by defeating Ally Davis 6-0, 6-4. Lady Cat Kali Malham bested Caeley Tredeau 6-3, 6-0, while Hope Bobak earned a 6-3, 7-5 win over Claudia Bautista.

In girls doubles matches, the team of Hannah Thomas and Chancey Davis beat Briana and Kennedy Rogers 6-1, 6-0, while Katie Marick and Katie Sheahan downed Emily Hamilton and MacKenzie Moreland 6-0, 6-0.

The wins put the Bobcats at a 10-1 (3-1 in region play) record, while the Lady Cats are now 7-4 (2-2 in region play). The Lady Rebels and Rebels are now 2-5 (1-3 in region play) for the year.
