Mr. Kenneth Robert Batten: Obituary

Mr. Kenneth Robert Batten, age 62 of Waleska, Georgia formerly of Ellijay, Georgia passed on Thursday morning, March 24, 2016, at his residence in Waleska, Georgia.

Born September 10, 1953 in Jesup, Georgia, he was the son of Felton Batten and the late Genia Peebles Batten. He was a graduate of Wayne County High School , Class of 1971. He served his country honorably in the U.S. Air Force. Kenneth was a Firefighter/Paramedic for many years with the Gilmer County Fire Department. He is preceded in death by his wife, Lisa Batten, son, Robert Aaron Batten and brother, Donald Peebles.

Mr. Batten is survived by his wife of 19 years, Charlene Burgess Batten, sons and daughter-in-law, Rich and Melany Batten of Dunwoody, GA and Jonathan Batten of Ellijay, GA, Step children, Tabitha Hyde of Ellijay, GA, Calvin and Lilly Mae Evans of Waleska, GA and Jordan Allen Hyde of North Dakota, grandchildren, Noah Hyde, Talon Blakely, Sky Blakely and Henry Evans, brother, Eugene Batten of Odum, GA, sister, Kay and Ralph O’Quinn of Odum, GA.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday March 26th, 2016 at the Logan Funeral Home Chapel with the Dr. David Drake officiating. Music and vocals will be by Rev. Irene Wofford. Military and Firefighter Honors will be performed by the North Georgia Honor Guard and Forsyth County Firefighter Honor Guard. Graveside interment will follow in the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with his former coworkers of the Gilmer County Fire Department serving as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM on Friday, March 25, 2016, at the Logan Funeral Home.
