Clear Creek Track Traverses Through Eagles, Titans Meets

The Clear Creek Middle School track team competed in the 2016 Junior Eagle Invitational at Commerce March 12 and the 2016 Titans Twilight Invitational at Bogart March 18.

At Commerce, the Bobcats tied with East Jackson for eighth place (out of the 16 teams at the meet) with 26 team points. Meanwhile, the Lady Cats finished 13th out of 17 girls teams, with 10 points.

Team score contributors for the Bobcats were C.J. Streicher, Jakob Dobbs, Nathan Jones, Joshua Barker, Hunter Waldrep, Douglas Danforth, Connor Mohon and Nate Mooney.

Streicher placed fourth in the 100-meter dash, posting a time of 12 and 25-hundredths of a second (12.25). He then joined three different relay teams in placement efforts. The 4×200 team of Streicher, Waldrep, Danforth and Barker finished fourth, with a time of one minute and 49 seconds (1:49), while the 4×400 team of Streicher, Barker, Mooney and Mohon captured the same standing with a time of four minutes, 13 and one-hundredth of a second (4:13.01). In the 4×100 relay, Streicher, Waldrep, Danforth and Jones took sixth place with a time of 51.33.

Also in relay action, the 4×800 pairing of Barker, Dobbs, Mohon and Mooney claimed fourth place with a time of 10:05.78. Dobbs also took seventh place in the 1,600-meter run, finishing with a time of 5:27.91, while Jones placed eighth in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 17.72.

Ardyn Weaver finished fourth in the 1,600-meter run for the Lady Cats, with a time of 6:12.63. Later, she collaborated with Alyssa Goodwin, Marisa Boland and Isabel Crosby for a fourth-place time of 12:00.17 in the 4×800 relay event.

At the Bogart meet, the Lady Cats claimed sixth place, while the Bobcats took eighth.

Dinah Bragg secured third place in the shot put (and broke the CCMS Lady Cats record in the event) with a toss of 31 feet, six inches (31′ 6″). The old record was 31′. Meanwhile, Mohon claimed second place in the pole vault for the Bobcats.

Naomi Coombs took second in the 800-meter run and third in the 3,200-meter run. She also joined Bennett, Chadwick and Weaver for a second-place effort in the 4×400 relay race.
