Gilmer Golf Tees Off Back-to-Back Against Southeast

The Gilmer High School golf team played three matches in four days last week, with the Southeast Whitfield Raiders on the schedule in back-to-back fashion.

After traveling to Indian Trace Golf Course in Chatsworth to face the Raiders last Tuesday, GHS hosted the Raiders the following day at Whitepath Golf Course.

At Indian Trace, the Raiders edged out a 189-195 victory in the boys match. Joshua Dobbs led the Bobcats by shooting a 45. Kanyon Smith finished his day with a 49, while J.T. Bosley tallied a 50 for the match.

Tyler Queen recorded a 51 at Indian Trace, while Colin Pflueger registered a 52 and Dylan Stewart finished his round with a 54.

Lady Cats Natalie Watkins and Mallory Kiser both shot a 56 at Indian Trace, while McKenzie Chambers recorded a 60 and Mary Lee Callihan finished her day with a 61.

The match at Whitepath ended with another Southeast Raiders victory, 170-185.

Stewart led the Cats by shooting a 44. Dobbs finished with a 45, while both Queen and Tanner Cantlay compiled a 46. Pflueger shot a 50, while both Bosley and Smith finished the match with a 51.

For the Lady Cats, Macie Chastain and Watkins both shot a 53. Chambers recorded a 55, while Callihan shot a 58 and Kiser finished the course with a 59.

Gilmer then traveled to Fields Ferry Golf Club in Calhoun last Friday, for a tri-match against the hosting Gordon Central and Adairsville.

The Bobcats finished second, as Gordon Central won 183-201-203. Stewart again led the Bobcats by shooting a 47. Dobbs recorded a 49, while Cantlay finished his day with a 50. Queen shot a 52, while Pflueger tallied a 54 and Smith finished his day with a 55.

The Lady Cats finished third, with Gordon Central triumphing 147-159-171. Chastain led Gilmer by shooting a 57. Chambers recorded a 60, while Watkins shot a 62 and Callihan finished the match with a 63.

Gilmer will head to Dawson today, for a tri-match with the Tigers and the Fannin Rebels, before traveling to Towns County Thursday for a match.
