Mr. W.T. Evans: Obituary

Mr. W.T. Evans, age 89, of Ellijay, died Saturday May 7, 2016.

Mr. Evans was born May 20, 1926, in Gilmer County the son of the late William Thomas, SR and Pearl Withrow Evans. He was a 1949 graduate of Ellijay High School, was a retired Master Brick Mason from Smith and Green Construction and was a member and Deacon of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. Mr. Evans served in the US Army in WWII and Korea. He was preceded in death by his parents and son Dan Evans and brother; Clyde Evans.


Survivors include: wife of 66years Margie Dover Evans, son and daughter-in-law; Pat and Debbie Evans, Chattanooga, TN, daughter and son –in-law: Janice and Donnie Burgess, Ellijay, daughter-in-law: Linda Evans, Ellijay, 3 granddaughters and spouses, Jessica and James, Jennifer and Brian and Holly. 4 great grandchildren; Colby, Maggie, Elizabeth and Will.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 2:00pm from the chapel of Bernhardt Funeral Home with Rev. Norman Gibbs, Rev. Billy Emmett and Rev. Jerry Johnson officiating. Interment will be in the New Hope Baptist Church cemetery with graveside rites by the North Georgia Honor Guard.

Flowers are accepted or donations may be made to Georgia Mountains Hospice 70 Caring Way, Jasper, GA. 30143 in memory of Mr. Evans.
The family will meet with friends Sunday from 3until 7pm at the funeral home.
Bernhardt Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
