Mr. Charles E. Mulkey: Obituary

Mr. Charles E. Mulkey, age 72, of Ellijay, died Friday May 13, 2016.

Mr. Mulkey was born July 10, 1943 in Gilmer County to Alma Key Mulkey and the late Buford Mulkey. He graduated from Gilmer High School, Class of 1961, he served honorably in the US Army in Vietnam from 1966 to 1968 earning several medals, including a Purple Heart. Later he went to work for Lockheed-Martin Company, where he retired after 43 years of service. Charles was a member of the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church and Oak Bowery Lodge #81 F&AM. He loved his family and was a wonderful son, brother, husband, father and a “Great” grandfather.

He preceded in death by his father; Buford Mulkey, father-in-law and mother-in-law; Fletcher Aaron and Delma Reece Wright, sister-in-law; Shelba Mulkey, niece; Lisa Batten, brothers-in-law; David Dagraedt,Osborne Miller, Paul Wright, Gene Wright and Harold Wright.

Survivors include; wife of 47 years Carol Wright Mulkey, daughter and son-in-law; Cynthia and Stacy Nicholson, Ellijay, son; Matt Mulkey, Ellijay, mother and step-father; Alma Mulkey Luttrell and J.T. Luttrell, Ellijay, brother; Ruel Mulkey, Ellijay, sister; Wanda Dagraedt, Ellijay, sisters-in-law; Barbara Wright, Mary Wright, and Vercil Miller and niece Diane Miller all of Ellijay, grandchildren and spouse; Melanie and Tim Ballew, Emily Nicholson, Samuel Nicholson, Bricen Mulkey, Derrick Mulkey, step-granddaughter; Kimberly Garrett, step-brother and step-sister; Aaron and Thelma Luttrell, Hiram, Dorothy and Jim Powell,Canton.

A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday May 15, 2016 at 4:00pm from the chapel of Bernhardt Funeral Home with Rev. Tim Ballew, Rev. Luke Morgan and Brother Edgar Land officiating.

The family will meet with friends Sunday from 2pm until 4pm at the funeral home.
