After a decade of waiting, the Clear Creek ball fields were officially opened last Saturday, with a ribbon cutting hosted by the Gilmer County Chamber of Commerce.
Over 50 Gilmer County citizens came out for the cutting, with numerous candidates for offices at the event as well.
After comments from Gilmer County Commission Chairman Charlie Paris, Georgia Speaker of the House David Ralston and Gilmer County Post One Commissioner Dallas Miller, the public took time to navigate the four fields at the park and enjoyed free hot dogs and hamburgers from the Gilmer County Parks and Recreation Department.

The fields are expected to be used for the first time next month, as teams from the Gilmer County Adult Softball Association will be breaking in the clay.
