Mr. David Cleaburn McArthur: Obituary

Mr. David Cleaburn McArthur, age 90 of Ellijay, Georgia passed on Friday morning, June 10, 2016, at the Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia.

Cleaburn was born January 1, 1926 in Blue Ridge, Georgia to his late parents David Lee and Nola Elizabeth Postel McArthur, moving to Ellijay when he was 18 years old. He was a deacon of Ridgeway Baptist Church where he had been a member since 1985. Mr. McArthur worked for several different carpet mills before retiring, then worked another twenty years at Wal-Mart as a greeter. He is preceded in death by his wife, Molean Dotson McArthur, sisters Bonnie M. Long, Amy M. Banks, and his brother Rev. Marvin McArthur.

He is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Peggy and Bro. Grady Frady, Joan and Rev. Harold Nelson, all of Ellijay, GA; sons and daughters-in-law, Larry “Danny” and Debra McArthur and Bobby Wayne and Jane McArthur, all of Ellijay, GA and James David “BoBo” McArthur of Tucker, GA; grandchildren and spouses, Monica and Joel Stillwell, Jerome Frady, Holly and Stephen Woodall, Daniel and Candy McArthur, Alicia and Manuel Holt, Shannon and Jason Atkins and Katrina and Matthew Pritchett; Nine great grandchildren; sister, Ethel M. Chastain of Ellijay, GA; brothers and sisters-in-law, Arvin McArthur, Rev. Mafford and Sammy McArthur, Doug and Wilene McArthur, Buford and Clola McArthur, all of Ellijay, and Claude and Doris McArthur of Tifton, GA.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, June 12th, 2016 from the Ridgeway Baptist Church with Rev. Caleb Parks, Rev. Brondy Davis, and Rev. Harold Nelson officiating. Music and vocals will be by Lowell Davis and Manuel Holt. Graveside interment will follow in the Ridgeway Baptist Church Cemetery with Hunter Stillwell, Joel Stillwell, Daniel McArthur, Jerome Frady, Stephen Woodall, John Seiwell, Elmer Pankey, Arthel Davis, and James McClure serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Rev. Billy Dotson, Rev. Jerry Banks, Rev. Wade Davis, Rev. Tim Hyde, Rev. Mafford McArthur and Rev. Michael Smith.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Saturday, June 11, 2016, at Logan Funeral Home, 357 Dalton Street, Ellijay, Georgia.

Flowers are acceptable, or donations may be made to the Ridgeway Baptist Church Cemetery Fund at 154 Lower Tails Creek Road, Ellijay, GA 30540 in memory of Mr. McArthur.

The family requests that no food be brought to the funeral home.
