Sometime early on the morning of Sunday July 3rd, the Citgo (Previously the Fleet Station) in Ellijay was robbed.
Suspects entered through the back of the business and proceed to ransack the place, according to Captain G. R. Grace of the Ellijay Police Department. The thieves stole money out of the station’s game machines and cash registers, but no merchandise has been reported stolen.
The business was closed at the time so no one was injured. Captain Grace estimated over $10,000 was accrued in stolen money and damages to the building.
Currently, the investigation is ongoing with the Ellijay Police Department as lead, though the Gilmer County Sheriff’s Department CID unit aided Ellijay Police at the scene.
