Mr. Elbert Lester “E.L.” Merrell: Obituary

Elbert Lester “E.L.” Merrell age 68 of Ellijay, died Thursday August 25, 2016.

Mr. Merrell was born, February 22, 1948, in Fannin County, the son of the late Roy Lester and Ellen Mae Wise Merrell. He served in the US Army and was a carpenter. He is preceded in death by brothers, Roy and Shorty Merrell, sisters; Ruth Waters, Lillian Cook, Agnes Duckett and Della Carroll.

Survivors include: wife of 49 years; Opal Merrell, son and daughter-in-law: Tony and Tonya Merrell, Ballground, daughters and son’s-in-law; Melissa Merrell, Harriman, TN, Angie and Jerry Teague, Ellijay, Elizabeth and Tracy Ramey and Renee Grizzle all of Ellijay, brother: Burt Merrell, Jasper, sisters: Birdie Mae Easley, Ellijay, Virginia Walker, Jasper, Thelma Cable, Royston. 13 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held Sunday September 4 at 2:00pm from the Burnt Mt. Holy Bible Church with Bro Kenneth Carter officiating.
