Mr. Arthur R. “Jack” Pearson: Obituary

Mr. Arthur R. “Jack” Pearson, age 78, of Ellijay, died Saturday, September 17, 2016 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Jack was born, November 26, 1937 in Lakewood Ohio. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1955 and was honorably discharged at the Rank of First Class Petty Officer. He owned a chain of auto parts stores in Cleveland, Ohio and in 1975 was involved in a family chain of Thrift Stores in Atlanta, Ohio North Carolina and Texas.

One of his passions was collecting classic cars. In 1975, he participated in the Cannonball Run, across country, traveling from New York to California in 38 hours and 45 minutes. In 1985, he moved to Ellijay and began the Pearson Pond Ranch, “The Llama Farm” as it was locally known, having many championship Llamas’ as breeding stock.

One of his greatest enjoyments was taking trips on his boat named “Masterplan”, where many side fishing trip were made. It was said of Jack, “He was always willing to help others and quick to lend a hand”.

Survivors include; his wife of 39 years, Tracy, sons, Todd Pearson, Larry Pearson, Richard D. Gallagher, daughter, Deborah J. Gallagher, grandchildren, Maximillian Pearson, Megan Pearson and brother; Larry Pearson.
