Visit the Gilmer County Library any time in December and you will find the 23rd Annual Festival of Trees.
The display is currently showcasing 26 trees from local organizations and businesses around our community who have come together to continue the tradition. Heath Lee, Manager of the Library and General Planner for the Festival, spoke with FYN about the event and it’s impact on our community.
“They bring in everything from the trees to the decorations,” says Lee about those who choose to display trees, ” Some spend over a month planning for this event.”
According to Lee, the tradition has continued these 23 years through the communities support as a great way to come together, becoming involved in showcasing our library as well as our local organizations. It also becomes a great time of year for the kids as Santa visits and they continue to host entertainment sessions through local talent and their Saturday Matinees.
The trees were officially completed the week before Thanksgiving and will remain on display until the week after Christmas.
