Mrs. Doris Keener Sanford: Obituary

Mrs. Doris Keener Sanford age 63 of Ellijay, died Thursday January 12 ,2017.

Mrs. Sanford was born February 24, 1953, in Gilmer County the daughter of Gusta Rogers Keener and the late John Keener. She was a graduate of Gilmer High School Class of 1971, North Georgia College and Lincoln Memorial University. She retired from Gilmer County School System, where she had served as principal of Clear Creek Middle School and was a member of the Northcutt Baptist Church.

Survivors include: husband; Rev. Emuel Sanford, son and daughter-in-law: Eric and Julie Sanford, Ellijay , daughter and son–in-law: Jennifer and Jonathan Jenkins, Blue Mont, VA, mother; Gusta ”Whiz” Keener, Ellijay, sister; Fredia Cantrell, Ellijay, 5 grandchildren, mother-in-law: Mattie Sanford Morris, Ellijay, several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2:00pm from the First Baptist Church with Ministerial Friends officiating. Interment will be in the Liberty Baptist Church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Christian Learning Center for new Clear Creek Middle School Center.

The family will meet with friends Saturday from 6 until 9pm at the funeral home and also request no food be brought to the funeral home.
