Mr. George “Tom” Lee Dooley: Obituary

Mr. George “Tom” Lee Dooley, age 79 of Ellijay, GA passed on Thursday afternoon, January 26th, 2017 at his residence.

Mr. Dooley was born September 9th, 1937 in Rome, GA to his late parents Horace Lee Dooley and Stella Mae Chapman Dooley. He graduated Ellijay High School Class of 1956 and served his country honorably in the United States Air Force. George retired with the State Of Georgia where he worked in Law Enforcement as a Game Warden for over 34 years. Mr. Dooley was a Master Mason and a member of Oak Bowery Lodge #81 F&AM.

He is survived by his wife: Sharon Dooley, Daughters And Son-in-law, Gale And Marvin Patterson of Ellijay, GA, Gwyn A. Dooley of Ellijay, GA, Step Daughters And Sons-in-law, Pamela And Kelly Robertson of Lubbock, TX; Debra And David Dickenson of Marietta, GA; Sons And Daughters-in-law, Mitchell And Leslie Dooley of Huntsville, AL; Jeff And Debbi Dooley of Ellijay, GA; Hal And Donna Dooley of Jasper, GA; Step Son and Daughter-in-law, James “Slugger” and Beth Strawbridge of Ellijay, GA; Grandchildren, Bobby Wright, Kayla Wright O’Dell, Kelly Wright, Mitchell Dooley, Christina Austin, Casie Moore, Jenny Carter, Kasey Michelle Dooley; Great Grandchildren, Joshua Wright, Isaac Wright, Breanna O’Dell, Chaise O’Dell, Emily Wright, Ethan Carter, Annabella Carter, Bentley Millwood, Kenzli Millwood, Kayson Moore, J.C. Austin, Madison Bruce, Gaia Austin and Atia Austin, Several Step grandchildren and step great grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, January 30th, 2017 from the Logan Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Edmund Miller and Min. Butch Jones officiating. Military/Masonic/Law Enforcement graveside rites will immediately follow the service in the Logan Funeral Home Pavilion and will be performed by the North GA Honor Guard, Oak Bowery Lodge #81 F&AM and the Georgia DNR Honor Guard. Burial will take place at the Chapman Family Cemetery with Randall Hensley, John Aiken, Mitchell Dooley, Jeff Dooley, Hal Dooley, Bobby Wright, Marvin Patterson, J.G. Dover and Tim O’Dell serving as pallbearers

The family will receive friends from 2:00PM-7:00PM on Sunday, January 29th, 2017 at the Logan Funeral Home.

Flowers are being accepted or the family requests that donations be made to North Georgia Christian Academy at 191 Harold Pritchett Road Ellijay, GA 30540 in memory of Mr. Dooley.
