Mrs. Mary J. Burnette Hensley, age 73 of Ellijay died Saturday August 19, 2017.

Mrs. Hensley was born February 6, 1944 in Gilmer County the daughter of the late Robert Claude and Velvia Oliver Burnette. She was graduate of Gilmer High School and Truitt McConnell College, retired Para Pro and Bus Driver with the Gilmer County Board of Education, a member of the Berean Baptist Church, a hospice volunteer and an avid bowler. Her parents, husband, Fred Hensley, and brothers, Johnny, Jimmy and Jerry Burnette preceded her in death.

Survivors include: children and spouses;, Larry and Kim Hensley, Ellijay, Page and Darren Reynolds, Morganton, 3 grandchildren, Tasha and Kyle McClure, Marlen Hensley and Amy Reynolds, great grandson, Trent McClure,  sisters; Martha Richards and Mickey and Willis Padgett. Brothers and sister-in-law’s. Bernadine Hensley, Edith Hensley, Vira Hensley, James and Evelyn Hensley, Bonnie Smith and Bobby and Teresa Parker, Readell Holland, special friends; Pat Griffin and Joy Avery.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2:00PM from the Berean Baptist Church with Rev. Scott Chastain, Rev. Jerry Banks, Rev. Dennis Jones and Minister Butch Jones officiating. Music will be by the church choir and the Davis family. Interment will be in the church cemetery.

The family will meet with friends Tuesday after 12noon at the funeral home.

Flowers are accepted or donations may be made to the Berean Baptist church cemetery fund in care of Dewell Sanford P.O. Box 16 Ellijay, Ga.30540 in memory of Mrs. Hensley. The family request no food be brought to the funeral home.
