Mr. Bruce W. DeWalt, age 91, of Ellijay, died Monday, December 11, 2017.
Mr. DeWalt was born, February 16, 1926, in Melvern, PA, the son of the late Paul and Leonora Eroh DeWalt. He was a veteran serving with the U.S. Army in WWII, later he retired from City of Atlanta, where he worked as a bus driver for Marta, and was a member of the Wieuca Road Baptist Church. After moving to Ellijay in 1985, he served as POA president for the Beaver Lake (Coosawattee) community for a number of years.
Survivors include; his wife; Joyce DeWalt, son and daughter-in-law: Norman and Kathy DeWalt, Marietta, daughter and son-in-law; Marla Gayle and Don Summey, Mobile, Al, step-children; Steve and Debbie Teal, Newnan, Rex and Susan Teal, Ellijay, Vickie and Gerald Posey, Buchanan, Carol and Hilman Bailey, Griffin, 2 granddaughters and 1 great-granddaughter; 7 step grandchildren and 10 step-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 5:00pm from the chapel of the Bernhardt Funeral Home with Rev. Glen Arnold officiating. Interment will be Thursday at 2:00pm in the Holly Hill Memorial Park in Fairburn with military honors by the U.S. Army.
The family will meet with friends Wednesday from 3:00pm until the funeral hour of 5:00pm at the funeral home.
