Sarah Hochkins: Obituary

Sarah Hochkins, age 33 of Marietta, GA, departed her earthly home bound for her eternal home in glory on Easter Sunday, April 1, 2018. Sarah was born January 10th, 1985, in Lithia Springs, GA to her father, John Thomas Hochkins, and her mother, Susan Dragoo Hochkins.

She was preceded in death and welcomed home by her grandparents, John and Elizabeth Hochkins of Northville, MI; Aubrey and Bulah Dragoo of Marietta, GA; Uncle David Hochkins of Canton, GA; Aunt Connie Kubik of Plymouth, MI; and Cousin Glenn “Sonny” Goetz of Thrall, TX.

She is survived by her father and mother; John and Susan Hochkins of Ellijay, GA ;  sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Jeff Cochran of Kennesaw, GA; aunts and uncles, Betty Goetz of Lexington, TX; Janice Long of Cartersville, GA; Ethel and Roy Lambert of Ellijay, GA; Duane and Kay Dragoo of Royse City, TX; Robert Dragoo of Cartersville, GA; Paul Hochkins of Ellenton, FL; companion and sons; Andy Wallace, Nicholas and Logan Wallace all of Marietta, GA, and her special dog; Lady.

Sarah attended Tennessee Tech University on a softball scholarship with a strong bat and great speed in left field. She was a gifted vocalist who enjoyed singing hymns with her family. Sarah was a talented cosmetologist who took personal pride in honing her craft and making people look their absolute best.

Everyone will always remember her sunny personality and smile that made her eyes sparkle. Even though Sarah only spent 33 years with us, she lived life to the fullest and made the most of every day. We will always carry Sarah in our hearts and remember what she taught us about being present in every moment and loving the people near and dear to our hearts.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, April 8th, 2018 at the Logan Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Harden Hopper and Dr. Tom Jordan officiating.  Music will be provided by Marla Bishop, Cartecay Baptist Church Choir and the Cartecay United Methodist Church Choir.  Graveside interment will follow in the Little River United Methodist Church Cemetery in Woodstock, GA with Greg Lambert, Clifton Lambert, Matt LaStar, Lance LaStar, Casey Goetz and Cary Goetz serving as pallbearers.  Sarah is to be buried next to her beloved grandmother, Bulah Dragoo.

The family will receive friends from 2:00pm until 7:00pm on Saturday, April 7th, 2018 at the Logan Funeral Home.

Flowers are acceptable, or donations may be made to Gideon’s International Ellijay Camp, P.O. Box 1704, Ellijay, GA 30540 in memory of Ms. Sarah Hochkins.
