Edna Verner Marshall: Obituary

Mrs. Edna Verner Marshall, age 87, of Ellijay, Georgia, passed Monday, April 9, 2018. Mrs. Marshall was born December 19, 1930, in Turtletown, Tennessee, to her late parents, Lawrence Harrison Verner and Minnie Davis Verner, the ninth of eleven children.

She and her husband, the late Glen William Marshall, moved to Ellijay in 1951, and she was a member of Hope Lutheran Church. In addition to her husband, parents, and nine of her siblings, she was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Lanier Waddell, and her great-grandson, Harvey Glen Mott.

She is survived by her daughter, Ann Waddell, of Cumming, Georgia, son and daughter-in-law, John and Penelope Marshall of Ellijay, Georgia; grandchildren and their spouses, Debbie and Brian Mott of Gainesville, Georgia, Jennifer and Donnie Johnston of Hoschton, Georgia, Will and Katie Marshall of Smyrna, Georgia, and Daniel and Kayla Marshall of Decatur, Georgia; great-grandchildren, Jake Johnston, Annie Johnston, Hudson Mott, and Jackson Marshall; sister, Dorothy Davis of Richmond, Virginia. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, April 14, 2018 from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at the Bernhardt Funeral Home in Ellijay. A graveside service will be held at 4:00 p.m. with Rev. David Smedley and Rev. Allan Tarr officiating. Pallbearers will be Donnie Johnston, Daniel Marshall, Will Marshall, Brian Mott, Paul Nealey, Buddy Oldfield, and Ron Verner and Jerry Blalock.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Mrs. Marshall to Hope Lutheran Church, 3295 Old Highway 5 South, Ellijay, Georgia 30540.
