Robert Elwood Hess: Obituary

Mr. Robert Elwood Hess, age 81 of Ellijay, GA passed Saturday, April 14^th, 2018 at the Union General Hospital in Blairsville, GA.

Mr. Hess was born January 2^nd, 1937 in Berwick, PA to his late parents Harold Eugene and Lois Dietrick Hess.  He graduated from Melton Area High School in Berwick, PA, and spent his career as a firefighter in Sarasota county, Florida.  Robert was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Barbara Ludwig Hess of the home in Ellijay, GA; daughters, Ginny May Lewis and boyfriend Jim of Franklin, NC and Sue Trella Hess of Sarasota, FL; sons and daughters-in-law, Robert E. and Carol Hess of Sarasota, FL and Thomas E. and Christina Hess of Maryville, TN; grandchildren, Jennifer McGavic, Krystal Storck, Kyle Hess, Bradley Lewis, Kenyon Lewis, Kaitlyn Hess, and Nick Hess; six great grandchildren; step-mother, Pearl Virginia Hess of Sarasota, FL; brothers, Ronald E. Hess of Sarasota, FL and Richard E. Hess of Milton, PA also survive.

Funeral services will be held at 2pm on Thursday, April 19^th, 2018 from the Macedonia Baptist Church with Rev. Cecil Townley officiating.  Music and vocals will be by the Macedonia Baptist Church Choir.  Graveside interment will follow in the Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery with John Hammontree, Nick Hess, Jim Shuler, Lyrik Long, Gabe Peterson, Kyle Hess, Bradley Lewis and Bill Jackson serving as pallbearers.

Family will receive friends from 4pm until 8pm on Wednesday, April 18^th, 2018 at the Logan Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Dennis Ralston, 117 River Lane, Ellijay, GA 30536 in memory of Mr. Hess.
