The Bobcats Tennis teams hosted the first round of State playoff tennis on Tuesday and Wednesday. The Lady Cats took to the courts on day one against Central Carrollton and on day two it was the boys facing Cedartown in 4-A action.
On the court for the Lady Cats, Lauren Cole, Katie Sheahan and Hope Colwell grabbed their rackets for singles action against a very strong Lions team. It was a tough day for the Lady Cats that ended their hopes of advancing to the second round. Lauren Cole(2-6,2-6), Katie Sheahan(0-6,0- took tough losses and Hope Colwell had a 6-3,2-1 lead when pulled off. In doubles for the Lady Cats, Katie Marick/Sarah Sheahan were defeated 0-6 and 1-6. Jacie Reece/Bethany Burnette were pulled with no score.
The Bobcat boys faced Cedartown at home on Wednesday in first round action of the GHSA Tennis playoffs. The Bulldogs came in with their minds set on taking the Bobcats dreams away and accomplished that task. Tripp Pierce had the only win on the day for the Cats taking the match 7-6, 3-6 and 6-1. Taking tough losses for the Cats in singles were Carter Hice(6-3.2-6,2-6) and Brett Becker(4-6,4-6). In doubles action, Luke Wimpey/Mason Hadden(4-6,4-6) and Kaden Reece/Rylan Cochran(3-8) fell short to the the season for the Bobcats of Gilmer.
