Mr. Ruel W. Fowler, age 83, of Ellijay, died Sunday April 29, 2018.
Mr. Fowler was born, September 30, 1934, in Gilmer County the son of the late Lewis Clarence and Nettie Jane Kimmons Fowler. He served in the U.S. Army, worked in construction and was a member of the Macedonia Baptist Church.
Survivors are his wife of 61 years, Margaret Smith Fowler, children and spouses, Ricky and Shelia Fowler, Blue Ridge, Renda and Donny Stafford, Crandall, Rhonda and Rev. Jeff Hollifield, Ellijay, brothers and sister-in-law; Charles and Pauline Fowler, L.C. Fowler all of Ellijay, sister Letha Weaver, Ellijay, mother-in-law; Annie “Pud” Smith and special friend; Ed Worley, both of Ellijay, grandchildren and spouses; Amanda Fowler, Amy and David Jaynes, Jennifer and Chris Wooten, Jonathan Stafford, great-grandchildren; Avery and Dylan Jaynes, Sara and Isaac Wooten, Brooklyn Stafford, several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11:00am from the chapel of the Bernhardt funeral Home with Rev. Michael Smith, Rev. Russell Hood and Rev. Jeff Hollifield officiating. Interment will be in the Macedonia Baptist Church cemetery.
The family will meet with friends Tuesday from 11:00am until 9:00pm at the funeral home.
