This past week had the Lady Cats Volleyball teams busy with two tri-matches against 2 strong programs. Both the Junior Varsity and Varsity squads hit the court.
On Tuesday the Lady Cats traveled to Lafayette to compete against the home team in Lafayette and also Cass High School. The Junior Varsity took the court first and took a defeat from both of their opponents. The Ramblers defeated the JV Lady Cats in 2 straight by scores of 9-25 and 9-25. Cass took the victory by scores of 21-25, 28-26 and 22-25.
The Varsity fell short to the Ramblers in 2 straight(11-25 and 12-25). Stats for the Lady Cats:
ACES: Beth Burnette, Hope Colewell, and Hannah Watkins all with 1 each. KILLS: Elly Callihan(2), Beth Burnette(2), Emma Dayton(2) and MaryLee Callihan with 1. Getting Assist in the first match vs. Lafayette were Beth Burnette with 3, Hope Colewell with 2 and Emma Callihan with 1. Digs in the match: Hope Colewell had 7, Emma Callihan had 5, Beth Burnette had 3, Hannah Watkins and MaryLee Callihan both had 2 each.
In the match against Cass, Gilmer found themselves coming up short in two straight in the defeat. Cass took the victory by scores of 25-15 and 25-17. Stand out statistically for the Lady Cats were as follows. ACES: Emma Callihan and Hope Colewell with 3 each, Hannah Watkins and Emma Dayton with 1 each. KILLS: Elly Callihan(5) Elyza Dantin and Hope Colewell with 2 each, Beth Burnette, Emma Callihan and MaryLee Callihan had 1 kill each. Emma Dayton had 1 blockEmma Callihan had 6 assist with Beth Burnette having 3 assist. In the DIGS category Hope Colewell(8), MaryLee Callihan(5), Hannah Watkins(4), Emma Dayton(3).
