Mary Ruth “Ruthie” Silver: Obituary

Ms. Mary Ruth “Ruthie” Silver, age 85, of Cleveland, TN, formerly of Ellijay, died Thursday December 6, 2018.

Ms. Silver was born, September 21, 1933, in Gilmer County the daughter of the late, James S. and Hattie Fain Parks.  A graduate of Ellijay High School class of 1951, she was the owner and operator of Ruthies Calico Cupboard Restaurant in downtown Ellijay from 1981 until her retirement in 2005. During that time she became known far and wide for her delicious pies. People would drive from all directions for one of “Ruthie’s Pies”. She was a member of the Harvest Missionary Church. Her parents, son: Ricky Silver, siblings, James Parks, Minnie Bowen, Helen Evans, David Parks, Kathleen Ledford, Paul Parks and Jessie Knight preceded her in death.

Survivors include: son: Kevin Silver, Roswell, daughters and spouses, Kathy Payne (Rick), Mc Donald TN, Karen Sue (Bill), Chattanooga, TN, Connie Dillon (Harry), Cleveland, TN, grandchildren, Chan Reece, Todd Reece, Nicole Gober, Justin Sue, Jason Hill, Brice Silver and Grant Silver, 8 great-grandchildren many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held Saturday December 8, 2018 at 1:00pm from the Harvest Missionary Church with Rev. Glenn Arnold officiating. Interment will be in the Yukon Cemetery.

The family will meet with friends Friday from 5:00pm until 9pm at the funeral home.
