Rheta Bennett Mullis
Rheta Bennett Mullis, 78 of Jesup died Tuesday, February 12, 2019. The Pierce County native had lived in Wayne County most of her life, was a member of O’Quinn Baptist Church and a retired case manager with Georgia Highlands. Rheta loved her family and made many trips to St. Simons Island Beach topping the day off with ice cream at the pier. Some favorite pastimes were watching basketball, attending gospel sings and attending anything related to church. She wasn’t part of the “in crowd” but part of the “God crowd”. She was predeceased by her husband of 56 years, William L. “Billy” Mullis; a daughter, Wendy Adeline Mullis and a sister, Janice Freida Bennett.
Survivors are her daughter, Penny (Tony) Powell of Ellijay; son, Bill (Teresa) Mullis of Jasper; 4 grandchildren, Curt Powell, Hope and Dusty Johnson, Taylor and J.D. James, Candice and Jordan Hunter and 9 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 2 PM Friday, February 15, 2019 at Rinehart and Sons Chapel with Rev. Donnie Mullis officiating. Interment will follow in the O’Quinn Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Jeff, Wayne and Ronnie Mullis, Chuck Hodge, Denny Maddox and Mike Myers. Honorary pallbearers will be the graduates of the 1958 Screven High School Class.
Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
