ELLIJAY, GA – At 2:16 p.m. on Nov.2, 1,813 Amicalola EMC customers lost power after multiple power poles broke and power lines fell onto Hwy. 52 West (Chatsworth Hwy.) in the Hancock Dr and Pritchett Technology area.
As of 9:36 a.m., according to the Amicalola EMC outage map, all customers affected by the downed lines had power returned to them.
At 9:14 p.m. on Saturday, Nov 2, 1639 customers have their electricity returned and 174 individuals are still waiting for it to return.
Hwy. 52 W was closed until crews could clear the area.
At this time, it’s unclear why the poles snapped or how long the entire clean up will take. Fetch Your News has received unconfirmed reports of trees falling on the line. However, we haven’t heard the reasoning from Amicalola EMC as of yet.
A crew has been assigned to the major outage and are working as quickly as possible to restore power.
Roads affected include Bear Dr., Roberts Ridge Road, Penland St., Hancock Dr., Dalton St., and Cox Creek Rd.
